TEACHER EMOTIONAL COMPETENCE BETWEEN GOAL AND REALITY, Anca POPOVICI, Elena SEGHEDIN

Abstract 

Our article is trying to underline one of the most important issue related with the teacher education – Emotional Intelligence. In fact, our paper is organized like an action- research study about developing the Emotional Intelligence on a professional capability level for teachers. 147 teachers from Bacau County were invited to participate to our study which was designed like a two steps research: a. Testing the level of Emotional Intelligence of teachers – Rocco Mihaela version after Goleman Emotional Intelligence Test (form for adults); b. Starting from the findings of the testing phase we had elaborate a Pre-service (and In-service) teachers training course for developing Emotional Capability. The main conclusions of the applied study was that the Emotional Intelligence has a lot of characteristics which has to become educational objectives, Empathy being only one part of it. The Teacher education program which is presented in our paper could be a useful starting point for the Decision makers, related with the goal of implement in Romania, a realistic Teacher Education curricula.
