Abstract

In today’s knowledge-based society, young adults need to work on their social and emotional skills to grow both personally and professionally. This study, grounded in empirical evidence, reflects students’ perceptions regarding the degree of guidance received in clarifying their career choices and in augmenting their socio-emotional competencies pertinent to their labor market adaptation. The program aims to support students in their transition into the workforce and improve their personal and professional growth.  The study used a mixed-methods approach, quantitative and qualitative, structured into a feedback questionnaire, administered to 137 third-year undergraduates at Politehnica University. The qualitative approach emphasizes a wide range of development levels in students’ perceptions and feedback, covering aspects of real life, from higher self-awareness, improved emotional control, stronger communication and interpersonal skills, and strengthened self-confidence to greater clarity in professional choices. Keeping emotional balance, managing stress properly, and attempting to achieve better well-being remain the key socio-emotional skills that help students create a more favorable academic environment. Universities should investigate appropriate policies to integrate emotional well-being into their vision of development, especially referring to the introduction of mental health programs, peer-support networks, and staff training centered on effective communication skills.
