The evaluation of professional competences and performance of teachers is one of the core activities of human resources management. The evaluation of teachers also contributes to quality assurance in schools. Teachers analyze and evaluate their own performance and their work on a regular basis, select the best results and at the same time contribute to the improvement of their professional work. Self-evaluation is an essential process and is one of the most common forms of evaluation in pre-university education, as it is a self-development tool that focuses on identifying the positive and negative elements of each teacher’s teaching activity and helps him/her to orient him/herself in a given field, providing information about what he/she has achieved and what he/she needs to achieve. Self-assessment can be carried out in several ways: self-analysis, which involves noting/recording findings and conclusions at the end of a lesson or a series of two or three lessons, various activities, seminars, conferences; discussions with pupils about certain difficulties they may encounter in their learning process or socio-occupational activity. The means of self-assessment are: reflection sheets, reflective journal, portfolio/digital portfolio.
