Self-Esteem, Belief in Personal Mastery and Goal Commitment in Students of Pakistan, Yumna ALI, Shakeel AHMAD, Sonia MUNAWAR

Abstract

Given research is amid at uncovering the fabrics of relationship among self-esteem, belief in self-mastery and goal commitment among the students. The research takes into account Belief in Personal Mastery (Pearlin and Schooler, 1978), Goal Commitment (Hollenback and Klein, 1987) and Self Esteem (Rosenberg, 1965).  Many psychological factors like self-esteem, belief in personal mastery and goal commitment can exert positive influence on academic performance and at the top of that it can exert influence on goal setting and goal commitment among the students. We can improve our mnemonics methods of learning, and can apply these methods in all educational setting on the basis of Academic performance analysis because it is very important and promising ways to instil performing attitude.Basically, academic achievement is very important topic in research psychology, so educational psychologists are trying to find out the factors that can affect the students’ academic performance.Researches indicate that self-esteem, belief in self-mastery and goal commitment is directly related to healthy bio-psycho-social behaviour of human-beings that is why chances of best academic performance increase ultimately. Relationship among self-esteem, belief in self-mastery and goal commitment has been well documented in the literature, and recent research highlights the strong affirmation for the practicality and importance of these variables regarding to the academic performance.
